FAQ's about Riding Lessons

See the list of questions & answers below for some of our frequently asked questions regarding our riding lessons.

What do riders need to ride a horse?

All of our riders are required to wear their own boots (western / cowboy style boots) and long pants, preferably jeans. Riders are also required to wear an ASTM/SEI approved horse riding helmet. We do strongly encourage everyone to purchase their own helmet, but have some available for use if needed.

What type of helmet do I need?

We require that all riders wear an ASTM/SEI approved horse riding helmet that has not been involved in a fall from a horse (or otherwise damaged). There are several brands & styles of helmets out there. If you are interested in purchasing a helmet for yourself, we can show you the helmet brands and styles we have, as well as share websites that we have purchased them from.

Do I need my own horse?

No, you don't need your own horse. We have horses here that we use for lessons. If you wish to take lessons with your own horse, that is something we can discuss.

How often should I take lessons?

The frequency of your lessons is up to your level of commitment and the availability we have during lesson times. Most of our riders take weekly lessons, although some do take lessons every other week.
